Rain, rain, rain!!

Empty seat at Cudham

Just saw this image on the way home at Cudham village. Rain had just been lashing down and then the brilliant sun came up, hence the rising mist.

Another recent landscape in Knole Park

Fuji X100 at Knole House

Another 'snap' using the X100 at Knole House. Image taken using auto setting in Velvia film mode giving the image wonderful intense colour but the main thing for me in using the Velvia film mode was the clarity. The image was then rendered using Lightroom 3 and then Nik sharpener pro 3.0. The black and white processing was run through Nik silver efex pro 2; high structure was used and film type Ilford Pan F Plus 50. Finally, sepia toning was added and then a little edge burning and a border was added to give it that old film quality. If you have not tested out Nik software, do so, now!! They produce amazing rendering software.

Silver Efex Pro 2

Silver Efex Pro 2 is such a great piece of software. The easy to use interface makes the whole creative experience a real joy. The high level of control and customization available in Silver Efex Pro 2 make it an excellent tool for serious photographers. Even if you’re only occasionally converting a color image, you’ll find the software to be worth the investment of time and money. http://www.niksoftware.com/silverefexpro/usa/entry.php

FJP new website

Fox Joyce Photography has had a face lift, see Ted's new face at - www.foxjoycephotography.co.uk - the new look has been developed to offer much better quality facing slideshows and new client galleries which are password protected and allow clients to view their images and purchase a whole host of quality products ranging from traditional high quality prints to box frame photos and images presented on acrylic and metal backgrounds. Please check out the new site.

Finally my Fujifilm FinePix X100 arrives!!

At last I have got my hands on a Fujifilm FinePix X100; believe me it is well worth the wait. The X100, is a beautifully-designed rangefinder-styled camera that squeezes an SLR-size APS-C sensor into its compact body. The fast F2 maximum aperture semi-wideangle lens has a classic 35mm-equivalent field of view which really gives wide images that cinematic feel. Image quality is excellent, very sharp indeed. The Fujifilm FinePix X100 creates noise-free JPEG images at ISO 100 all the way up to 3200, with a little noise at ISO 6400 and more visible noise and slight colour desaturation at the fastest setting of ISO 12800, an amazing performance for a camera with an APS-C sensor. The RAW files were also excellent, with usable images throughout the entire range of ISO 200-6400. But one of the truly innovative and unique developments with the Fujifilm FinePix X100 is the hybrid viewfinder, which combines a conventional direct-vision optical viewfinder with a high-resolution electronic viewfinder, offering the best of both worlds plus a few unique tricks of its own. I am still getting to grips with this compact bundle of joy and will hopefully post further blogs on findings and examples of images using the Fujifilm FinePix X100. The image below was taken today looking towards Darenth Valley in Kent; Silver Efex Pro was used to render the image in black and white.
